Another mini-obsession of the day is the R.E.M. video for Daysleeper.

I should be reading Lucretius right now, absorbing his theory on the motion of atoms and the essence of the mortal world, or conjugating Russian verbs, but I'm supremely unmotivated.

And I miss my girls who have gone to the east coast.

It's funny, though, running into people from high school, the opposite from your favorites, who you didn't particularly like in the first place: in the few people since you've met them, you've met people so heinous that they've mellowed in your memory into a near-pleasantness, and you find yourself actually smiling bemusedly as you have your schmoozy "how are things with you?" chit-chat.

Lately I'm finding all the things which compensate for the casualties of growing older, like dimished right to crayons or Halloween excitement, and it's making me happy.
